Encore GX select awd
Sometime the cruise won't resume or set , the dealer said to increase speed and press resume or set , he said that worked for him , when it failed to work once out of ten tries.
It failed on me again , on the way home from the dealership , when I applied the brake while cruising behind a slow vehicle , but his instructions didn't work.
I tried a variety of things and found that if I applied the brake again it worked.
Now I'm wondering if the brake pedal position sensor may be faulty.
Before when it happened , if we stopped and turned off the engine it usually worked again , but once we stopped 3 times and turned off the engine and it didn't work again , on the way to the dealer.
I'm expecting the dealer to say it's intermittent and they can't find the problem .

Now I'm thinking it may need a brake position sensor calibration, because some times if I step on the brake again it works , or I can pick up the brake pedal with my foot and the cruise works again ok.

I got the brake position sensor recalibrated.
It seldom won't resume cruise .
We had to brake , while on cruise for a truck on a turn in the road , during a 100 mile trip , and it wouldn't resume , for last 30 miles of the trip
This time it wouldn't 't resume after stepping on the brake , of lifting it up either
After the suv was parked over night , cruise worked again all the time , during the few times we decided to use it , on a 100 mile trip back home.
Anyone have any suggestions?

If your dealer can't fix it, take it to another or open a case with Buick Customer Service. Ask for a regional rep. You paid to have a car that works the way you expect.

I talked to the purchasing dealer again ( who is 200 miles away ), and they have another customer with the same problem, and they are replacing the brake pedal assembly , to see if that fixes the problem .
I'm taking the car to a local dealer next week , to see if they can get the cruise to stop resuming , setting , correctly .
They said they have to see it do it themselves , for Gm to OK any work , and can't go by my description only.

How slow are you going when you press the set or resume and it fails to engage?

Various speeds from 80km to 110km , depending who we have to brake to avoid . I have noticed that the set speed disappears as well - just two dashes next to a white cruise symbol , but re appears when the pedal is lifted with my toe , and the cruise symbol turns green with the speed next to it , but goes back to white dashes and white cruise symbol when I let pedal go back down.

I've had a similar issue. It happens quite often that my vehicle will no longer activate cruise control. What I'd usually do, is deactivate the adaptive cruise control and reactivate it to fix the issue.

I talked to the local dealer - and they have a customer with a trailblazer with the same issue , and have ordered a brake pedal assembly , with no ETA , but I haven't been able to have my car looked at yet . I hope it happens when they try it.
How did you reactivate yours?
Did you press cruise to shut it off and then cruise again to get it to work?
I tried that but it didn't work for me.

This is what I do to sort of reset the cruise control functions. I deactivate the ACC and reactivate it. This may be a temporary solution. Let me know Capture d’écran, le 2022-06-15 à 12.41.45.webp

I asked the dealer about switching from acc and regular cruise, and they said , and I thought by the manuals directions , what you did , was while the cruise was set just press the follow gap button when following a vehicle , and acc would be engaged , but it never worked for me , and press cruise again to disengage acc.
I'll have to try the press and hold the x button and see what happens. I've got an appointment for next Wednesday , I hope the not resuming problem it happens when they try it out.

We have a similar issue with ours. It takes out both the regular cruise and adaptive cruise when it happens. We took it in 2 weeks ago, and they disconnected the camera or sensor module that the adaptive uses since it was hot and plan on replacing it. They said after that, that the regular cruise should still work, but we've still got issues.

Goes in next week to get the new module, and I just called and told them about the regular not working now.

Very similar to what you describe. Very intermittent. Some days it works, others it doesn't work at all, and sometimes it'll work for half a trip, and then not for the second half of a trip. Tried engaging/disengaging ACC and does nothing.

Absolutely pissed because we hadn't even had the car a month when this started.

Very interesting! Let me know what they end up doing during your next visit. You've described exactly what’s been going on with mine. Now, my GPS chip has an error :’(

My cruise started to screw up on the way home from the dealership when we purchased it , we stopped for supper and it worked again. We don't travel far with it , and it seldom happens because of short trips .They said , they couldn't do anything unless it happens when they try it out . I'm going to see if I can get it to malfunction on the way to the dealer , and hand it over to them in that state - without turning the car off - tomorrow morning. I haven't attempted to use acc much instead of plain cruise , but when I have tried it , the cruise symbol with the car in the left upper corner doesn't appear. I understand if you press and hold X , it is supposed to switch to acc , and you can set gap.

With ours I'm annoyed because it's my wife's daily driver and our long distance road trip vehicle (mine's a full size truck that we have for towing, so it rarely leaves town with current fuel prices).

Not having cruise in your road tripping vehicle is a non-starter for me, so I'll be all over their ass on this til it's 100% fixed.

Let me know what fixes it , I hope to not have to go through the stress you are having. Some times the annoyance , waiting for something to work , is worse than the malfunction. I was doing MTD warranty one time and they had no answers for a fault in a lawn tractor , and they said when I found a fix to let them know. I discovered the problem , with no thanks from them?? I hope an engineer /designer is being consulted , instead of some mechanic guessing and trying various things , at our expense. If a computer scanner doesn't say what to do , now days , they are shooting in the dark.

Luckily it's all under warranty for me still. We'll see what it takes though

They found no codes , they called GM and they said update the BCM first instead of replacing any parts , and the dealer said it works now , it happened again a few miles from the dealer , I went back , now I have to book another service appointment.

Taken to the dealer , updated the BCM
1. Now the cruise sets to the speed you want , if you increase speed to a new set point , and you press set to select the new speed , it reduces the speed by 1 km - instead of setting too a new speed.
2. Auto stop doesn't work.
3. We lost most of the engine power for about 5 minutes once - when turning onto another road.
4. Still can't get adaptive cruise to work , buy following the instruction book.
5. Cruise still won't resume or set at times - after pressing the brake - same as before,

Now we are afraid it may quit on us , or cause an accident , great state of affairs.
I've got a 2008 Impala that works like a top , less computers I guess - or lucky.
