This morning, the infotainment system was "frozen" (could not get any audio to play via Bluetooth or AM/FM etc.)
After a few minutes, the screen went black and then I got to look at this message for the half hour it took me to get to my destination.
This is the first time this has happened but I'm not surprised as the DIC and infotainment screens are often "buggy".
I did wait to start the car until the screen "booted" and the battery voltage is good.

How does it behave if you do not plug-in the Android at all?

We use iPhones in our 2019 TourX, but this is an interesting topic regarding CarPlay - our head unit will sometimes shut-down if we try to make a phone-call. Ya, "buggy".

No Android plugged in. I actually have an iPhone 11 Pro which was not connected via wire at the time.
The OS for the "later" (white needle) infotainment system is Android.
Hence, the "Android loading" message....

Thanks for that info. I did not know the OS in this vehicle's infotainment system software was Android.
I assume your iPhone 11 Pro was connected to the vehicle's Android OS via bluetooth (not via a cable). And that bluetooth is normally on, on your iPhone.

Yes - it is SUPPOSED to connect every time via Bluetooth but, depending on the car's mood, it may or may not connect.
If I get in the car and start it right away without waiting for the screen to "boot", I will most likely get the "NO DEVICE CONNECTED" message.

We get the same message SOMETIMES, and only ever connect in the vehicle via cable (iPhone bluetooth off - we want charging of the iPhone while using it in the vehicle too). It seems it's the buggy system in the vehicle, not how the connection is made.
