Needing to change oil pan gasket in 2007 Lucerne with the Norstar V8. Book states you need to remove the engine. Taking a few mounts loose, will it go up high enough to get it out or does that hold true it absolutely engine has to come out to get it changed. Any experience Id appreciate it. Thanks

If no response check the Cadillac DTS forum as it may have more information on the project.

Not sure about the Lucerne, but I had a DTS that needed a pan gasket. I was told that the motor needed to be taken out to do it. I lived with the leak until the half case started leaking, which is when it was sold. Loved the car, hated the repair costs.

Thanks for the response. I may just have to pull the engine. It went in the car, so has to be a way to get it out lol!! Thanks

DTS is the same platform, but considering most vehicles the oil pump and crank are usually the clearance issues to dropping the pan while mounted.

Here's another post that may be helpful in seeing what may be involved.
