    First Scratch - OUCH

We took the Cascada back to Chicago to visit the kids again and a rock flew off a large truck and hit the hood of my car an put a dent and scratch in the hood. So I took the car back to the Buick dealership where I bought it to get an estimate. (Pictures attached of the dent). The quote they gave me to repair it was $887 - so basically $900. I thought the price was a little out of line - I haven't had a scratch or dent repaired in a long time on any car so I really didn't know what today's prices would be, but I thought that was high. So I told the dealership I'd have to think about it and left. So the next day i went to two other 'local' repair shops - both very reputable in our area. I didn't really want to take my car to someone other than the dealership, but when the other quotes came in at $400 and $425 I felt I really didn't have much choice but to go with one of them. So, my car has been in the repair shop for the past 3 days, I'm supposed to be able to pick it up tonight. Hopefully, it will look like new!!! But now I'll have to call the dealership again because my Autobutler is due this month, and I'm not sure if that should be done on a new paint job or not. Anyone have any ideas on that?

Usually the people doing the repair will at least wash/wax before returning it, so having another wash/wax done would be overkill. It can't do any harm though, as by that time the repair should be set. Ask the body shop when you pick it up.

It looked like a decent scratch so probably a good call in paying someone to repair it. Sometimes you can get away with tossing a dent specialist some money to pop it back out (professional dent repairs look like new), then fix the scratch yourself.

Ouch! (coming into this thread a little late I know...)

HATE it when dings happen to nice new Buicks!!!!
We got our Black 2014 Regal-Turbo back from the body-shop a week ago. A light hailstorm went thru parts of Fargo, & the Regal got caught out in it. GRRRRR!!!!
$2,500 of PDR later.....she looks great again!

Well I did get the car back, just not when I was supposed to, when I went to get it, I noticed the hood was still off the car!!! He said, they ordered the paint, painted the hood, and it doesn't match!!!!! It was close, but wasn't close enough for the painter!!! So, he said he was calling tomorrow and ordering new paint. It ended up, the new paint came in, and he tried that and it didn't match either. So the paint company sent someone to match the color or the car, so the final painting came out great!!!! But was a lot more work. Then I called the dealership and they said I would have to wait 3 months before I could have my AutoButler done. No big deal either. All I can say is the place I took my car to did a great job and thoroughly cleaned my car inside and out while they had it. And since he didn't charge me for all the extra work he had to do to get it right - I gave him $100 buck tip. Well worth it, and I'm sure if I ever have to go back they'll treat me great again!!!
