    Dimming infotainment screen

My infotainment screen, from time to time, would dim if driving under some tree's or clouds, and stay dim unless I turn the light switch on the left side of my dash to the left. Doing so would stop the daytime running lights. I have heard that the Envision model had the same issue, and they received a technical service bulletin 16-NA-357 to fix it. However, there is no such technical service bulletin for the encore. Though I did take it in for service, the technician stated the sensors are just too sensitive and there's nothing we can do about it. This was many moons ago.

Has anyone else had this issue, brought it into the service department, and what did the technician say to you? Now looking to purchase a new car but it will not be a Buick if this cannot be corrected.

I have just made a complaint with the NHTSA regarding this matter today. Will wait-and-see what happens. Not holding my breath, but I had to do something.

    Re: Dimming infotainment screen

Brought my car in for service last year with the same issues, however the tech told me that the sensors are very sensitive and there was nothing that they can do. However, just a few days ago I learned that the Envision Buick are also having the same issues and received a service bulletin to fix it. I, however, and other Encore owners have not received any techical service bulletin. So I have to resort to other means, hopefully to get this issue resolved.

Thank you for your reply however.

Seems lots of other owners are complaining about that sensitive sensor and the screen dimming too much.

    Re: Dimming infotainment screen

For a couple of nuisance items on my 2015, I do like it a lot. However, my next car will probably be the 2017/18 Mazda CX-5. The encore need a better sensor system, and a full size armrest for both the driver and passenger, not to mention perhaps two or 3 inches in length to accommodate taller passengers in the rear.

    Re: Dimming infotainment screen

If it is connected to the auto headlight function, you can turn that off. I do. I have a 2014, my screen is up on the dash, but I believe it stops dimming when I turn the auto headlight function off. My problem is that I cannot get the speed reading bright enough, and I have pushed it to the highest limit.

I double checked it yesterday when it was raining hard. I turned the lights on manual, and the screen stayed bright.

We have the same issue on our 2016 Encore. a very small shade causes the display to dim. it's very unsafe and annoying when you are using Nav, all of a sudden you wont see the screen anymore. We are in Arizona and still the sensor sometimes decide to dim the display during the day. I have heard that Envision had this same issue and in 2016 it got a fix but don't see one for Encore.

I had the same problem. Sensor was replaced under warranty and have had no further problems since then.
