My name is Keith in Nashville, Tn. I have a 1967 GS 400. When having the carburetor rebuilt found out that it is a 7028212 for a late 60's Chevy 327. What I need is a one year made, 7027146 and they had no number stamped on them just a tag. Since Buick only made 18,000 GS that year, the 1st for the 400 engine, then changed the intake design, they have been hard to find. Any help locating the correct carburetor is appreciated!

Yes V8buick is probably the best place for you to search for the numbers matching carburetor. If you come up short, you can still have a carburetor built for your engine. Ken Gies is a member (techg8) on V8. His business (Everyday Performance) can build you a carburetor. He may very well have the one you need. I suggest you join over on V8buick and contact him via PM. Or, you can call him if you like at 860-218-5780. He is in CT.

On Facebook,

Everyday Performance LLC for the engine you have

Big block Quadrajets are very different than Quadrajets meant for smaller engines. It is important to get a Q-jet built for the engine you have, especially if it will be modified from stock. Ken is your guy.

Just make sure that whoever you use, that they use the latest carburetor kits that are resistant to the ethanol in the fuel. This is especially important with the accelerator pump. Stay away from carburetor remanufacturers like the ones at the chain auto stores and Jegs/Sumitt. They are the worst place to go. Ken Gies is top notch, and he is a Buick guy.

Thanks, such a RARE carburetor, I have an excellent guy in Tennessee, just need a core. Ethanol free is key. Keith

Good luck in your search. Regardless, go and join v8buick. It is hands down, flat out, the best board for 60's and 70's Buicks. You have no idea what you are missing.
My GS has always been so reliable. But it is a keeper car just as my 65 GTO which I belong to GOTA, so I will take your advice. We always laugh and say there are only 5 old Buick owners in all of Nashville, ha !
