71 Riv Wheel Size Question

Hi guys, I finally got the right rims for my '71 Riv. 15x7, 5x5 bolt pattern. Here is the issue: three of them are exactly 7" wide, bead to bead; but the fourth is slightly wider, 7⅛". My first question is, do you think this is random variation or did they make a 7⅛" rim? The more important question is, does it matter? Meaning, can I run on these four rims together, even though the one is slightly wider? Assuming I can put the same tires on them all (205, 215, etc.), will it be a problem driving?

Here is some other info: All of the rims have "15x7 JJ" stamped on the inside of the back. What I believe are the date stamps show that two are from 1983, one is from 1980, and the slightly wider one is from 1985. The 1980 rim has "011" stamped on the inside, the others have "51011" on the inside, but it is tough to tell if the "51" is part of the "011". Best I can tell, all of the rims have 4¼" backspace, though the slightly wider one may be a bit more.

Thanks very much.

When you measure rims, the rim width is measured between the beads, NOT from edge to edge. A rim measured edge to edge is nearly 1" wider than the rim width. Sounds like you might have 3 15 X 6" wheels, and one (1985) 15 X 7". Check your measurements. If there is any minor differences like 1/8", it is meaningless as far as being able to use them together. In 1971, the Riviera stock tire was a H78-15. It was 28.36" tall and 8.55" section width. Best approximation of that tire is a P225/75R-15. It is 28.29" tall and 8.85" section width. I would not go any smaller than that as a shorter tire is going to look pretty stupid IMO. Here is a good wheel chart. The 5 X 5 wheels are at the top.

Larry, thanks very much. You have sent me that wheel chart before, and it is very useful. These are all 15x7. They are all stamped 15x7 on the back/inside of the rim. I measured bead to bead on all four, and it is 7" exactly on three and 1/8" larger on one. If that small difference won't be a problem, then I am all set. Thanks again.
