I noticed some of the threads say there are nuts while others say there are studs that pop in. Any other advice might help

Signing up to V8buick.com might be the best route as someone there may have addtional information. If it's a long term project a GM body manual might be helpful to obtain.

I believe it is very similar to the 70-72. There are 4 studs with nuts on the passenger side. You get to them by removing the glove box liner. There are also several screws that go up into the dash pad from the instrument panel. Then the dash pad pulls off via several spring clips. There are better instructions in the 1968 Chassis Manual. Relatively inexpensive on Ebay,

You need one.

In the meantime, the 68 Chassis Manual is available on Teambuick.com if you sign up. Or, if you send me an e mail to Larrymta@verizon.net, I'll send you a pdf of the dash section.
