So here's a press release saying this is available: 2016 Buick Regal, LaCrosse Get Android Auto Update

Has anyone had any luck getting a dealer to install this? I've been to my local dealership twice and they're stumped on what to do - the "advisor" I spoke with didn't even know how to spell Android Auto. What do I have to tell these idiots to get them to understand what they need to do and do it? If anyone has gone through this, please let me know what worked. Thanks!

If the dealer is somewhat clueless on this update, go back to the website and get a hold of the posted contacts. Explain that the dealer is unable to perform it and ask them for assistance. Some dealers have smart technology guys and others are great at turning a wrench, so confirm when it's going to be done that you get the techy.

I believe they just need to update your intellilink to the latest version, if android is available for your head unit it should be included in the latest version.

Hmm. I already tried calling Buick and they basically told me, we won't do a thing for you, go to a dealer. So asking them for assistance isn't really an option.

Anyway, I just had a window motor fail yesterday (first week I have the car LOL), so now I have another reason to go to a dealer. Will ask again.

Service bulletin 16-NA-042. You must have radio RPO IO5 or IO6.

From the bulletin:

Infotainment System Upgrade for Android Auto Feature

999999995.gif
Attention: Effective April 14, 2017, any requests for Android Auto software upgrades for 2016/2017 model year vehicles with NGI 2.5, I05 and I06 radios which were built between June 1, 2015 and April 4, 2016, which have not had previously had the Android Auto upgrade performed, should be considered a customer pay transaction. Vehicles produced after April 4, 2016 were produced with the Android Auto software installed. Any charges for the upgrade should be determined and agreed upon with the customer prior to the upgrade being implemented. Effective April 14, 2017 labor op codes will no longer be available for the software updates associated with service bulletin #16-NA-042. This bulletin applied to select 2016/2017 Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac vehicles that were built between June 1, 2015 and April 4, 2016 and equipped with IO5 and IO6 radios requiring the D6 software upgrade to add the Android Auto feature.

The option code sticker is in or around the spare tire area. Look on the cardboard cover. Sometimes they're under the spare tire. If you can't find it, a call to your local dealership parts department with the last eight digits of your VIN will get you the needed information. The job paid .4 hour under warranty, but if customer pay, could be higher. The GM service programming system sucks balls and may take several hours to program a vehicle.

Has anyone tried this with a 2015? Mine has a build date of 6/25/2015 and has IO6. So, within the build dates on the TSB How do I know if I have HMI/NGI 2.5?

I'm late for the party here. I have a 2016 LaCrosse that's a Sport Touring model. It came equipped with Navigation and most of the bells and whistles. The code I had was UDT and upon further digging ended up also being code I06. The car was produced in mid to late 2015. Dixie Buick GMC in Fort Myers Florida performed the upgrade. The car already came with Apple Carplay installed which initially puzzled me as I figured it would also have Android Auto. My 2018 Enclave updates over the air via home wifi or cellular. Hope this helps someone.
