Went out to go get some camping gear with my son and stopped at a McLaren and Lamborghini dealer for kicks. He says I need to get a new job so we can get one...but apparently I better get a much better job since he wanted one than one.

The McLaren dealer also had a few Astons. This is the second Senna we have seen but first Speedtail. Pretty awesome cars. Unfortunately I think he is more excited for me to get a new job than to go camping. 😕

Why settle for a replica? Go for the real thing and listen to that 289 sing.

I don't think the "Well, stay in school & get good grades and someday..." argument works in this case--exceptional cars require exceptional talents--so more of "Chance favours the well trained mind" and/or winning the lottery. Either way, it's good to have unique goals in life.

(And let's face it, starting a campfire without chemical additives is beyond a good chunk of the population--so there's a start.)

I guess we should see it as a positive thing... usually kids are all into the latest tech which in this case is electric. Don't get me wrong, he thinks electric cars have some amazing acceleration but thinks they are totally devoid of character. He is more like his old dad and thinks the engine is what breathes life into a vehicle and what really differentiates a car from an exotic.

But I do have to say I was not so impressed with the build quality of the McLarens or the Lamborghinis. Considering so few roll off the line you would think all gaps would be spot on and they weren't. Even some sloppy things like some mostly hidden carbon fiber on the Senna was lumpy. I think it looked like a bad fiberglass repair, not acceptable on a million dollar machine. They also started an Artura up and it had some belt squeal at idle and something else wasn't working they were trying to fix. Not confidence inspiring. On the Aventador the fuel filler was a cool shape but not one gap was the same as another. Overall I guess if I get a new job I would probably lean towards McLaren just because it seemed like every part of the physical design had a purpose. The openings in the front, sides and top were functional and looked good. So next week I may trade my TourX in for this one since the used car values are so high right now 😂

Hope you have a good college fund going for your kid. He's going to need either a law degree or become a doctor to achieve these lofty goals.
Ooff...not doctor...this kid can't deal with it when I get cut. He gets a cut or scrape and freaks...when I have gashes or gaping cuts he runs for the hills.

Exotics are great. Rent them but not own them. Since VW took control over Lamborghini the quality is much better. These cars share parts bins with other VW brands like Audi and Bentley. Exotics cars are great for southern climates, not fun when you have snow or rain. My buddy took it for a short Sunday ride.

That reminds me of the A-holes that love to run the big 24" and larger rims with ultra low profile tires and are slipping and sliding around while I calmly drive around them in my big STOCK front driver. ;) :D
