If the 3 bolts are out, see diagram, it should be able to come out as there is nothing else that would hold it in.

Wow, do I have to remove the alternator, upper intake, and fuel rail and then pry it out with a crow bar?

Not according to the instructions, other than belt, pump lines, one wire harness and 3 bolts that's all that it should take. If you can post a photo or two it may trigger the aha idea. The 3.1 and 3.4 are similar in the power steering pump, bunch of videos, but this may be of help (?)

Paydirt! Didn’t like the idea of a pry bar but it worked. Why should you need a pry bar though?
Very little tolerances on that thing coming out. Not a very nice removal but it’s out.

Glad it worked, but you are correct that it's not what's in the normal repair manual instructions LOL.
