roof leak

2009 enclave
our 2009 enclave w/o sun roof has suddenly developed a leak with water dripping from map lights in overhead. any ideas?

if you are referring to a map light near the windshield, spray the top edge of the windshield with a hose to see if you can cause the leak.

Do as MelsRegal suggest, but also inspect the roof and if you have a roof rack for possible areas that water can enter. When checking with a hose you might be able to get the map light housing dropped just for a better view.

thanks good advice. a piece of the trim for the roof rack at the very rear is missing, could that be a possible entry for rain? it is just trim and way back. seems unlikely.

It's unlikely that something at the back could travel to the front, but you may still want to check it out. The biggest leak problem is the drains from the sunroof get plug, but as you don't have one it's a little harder to Internet trouble shoot. It's any access point to the roof is suspected, spraying water and looking is about it.

thanks, i'll try a hose and see if i can find the source. we had the window replaced maybe 5 years ago, so that doesn't seem like the source. also, the water came in while the car was parked, so not driven in by moving air. leaks are a mystery, especially in a home roof. thanks again
