Hi All
I am getting the above message on my 2008 Lucerne and the system does not work at all, even the small amber light on the switch will not light up.
Anyone have any ides on what could be wrong?
Thanks

I purchased my 2008 Buick Lucerene from a dealer with 17K miles (or so). The lane departure system was giving me the same error message so I had the dealer check into it after buying the car since it was still under warranty. Apparently there was a problem with a control module of some kind. It was replaced at no cost to me. The work order I have from the dealer doesn't have much detail about what they fixed or how long it took. This probably isn't very helpful other than you might need to have the dealer (or another specialist) diagnose and repair the problem.

I purchased my 2008 CXL new and I used the LDW for maybe two days. I didn't really care for it so I turned it off. Five years later, the "Service Lane Departure" warning comes up on every start and must be acknowledged. I have no desire to spend one-dollar to repair something I don't need nor want. Is there anyone out there with knowledge how to disable this message permanently?
Thanks,
BC

buick lucerne is bad for this. Our 2009 special edition the service lane departure light came on took it to the dealer and yep over 600.00. well here the light came on again. Well luckly they gave me the box the part came in had the part number and I went to ebay got one under 90.00 put it in no problem.

Mine quit working the second time, fortunately it doesn't even come on.
I need a new windshield and was wondering if I could remove it completely.

Do you still have the part number and procedure for installing it?

Thanks

Is there a way to completely disable the lane departure system?

Go to Amazon and buy ACDelco 20839067 GM Original Equipment Vehicle Direction Alert Warning Module for $147.91 and free shipping.
The reviews say it comes precalibrated, plug and play. Replaces the windshield module. I just ordered one.

i bought my 09 Lucerne super in nov.2017 and within 2000 miles my lane departure light came on as well the dealer wanted 800.00 dollars to replace the module all it is is the camera mounted on the windshield by the rear view mirror the body control module also failed and that has to be programed by the dealer for the particular application that cost me 600.00 dollars but I love the looks and performance of my Lucerne super

Hi, did you ever get this figured out? I am in the same situation. I just bought the car from the original owner knowing that system wasn’t working. He really kept the car up well but the fact that he didn’t bother getting that system fixed suggests to me that it was extremely expensive to repair.

I think I will try looking on youtube to see if there are any vids to do with fixing it.

I'll assume from montess post that it was a dealer who did the troubleshooting. If you read the other posts it appears to be the module is the most likely candidate, unfortunately it may require a trip to the dealer to confirm. If the original owner has any paperwork on estimate for the repair that could be useful.

Thanks much for the response. The original owner passed right before I bought this but I will have a good look at the Service Records. For some reason the other posts seemed to be hidden until after I submitted my own post. I will price out that module. Thanks again.

while i'm sorry for all of the owners with lane departure problems, it is nice to know that my 09 lucerne super is not the only lightweight for this issue! :)

i'm on my third lane departure module since 2009, all replaced under warranty. now i have that annoying service lane departure system message at startup most every time and have to punch the button to turn it off. sometimes it will work fine, however. weird! i have chosen this time not to fix it due to cost, of course. does anyone know if the lane departure systems on newer cars are better systems than the ones installed in 2009?

Best price I could find on these is $207USD; not worth it for me as I never fall asleep in any type of vehicle. It would be interesting to find out the reason these things stop working.
