What are the steps to transfer a car to a new owner?

Just bought a 2018 tourx essence DC1 S&S for my wife from a private party. She's really excited after having wanted one since they first debuted back in 2018.

The car is still all configured with the original owner's setup. Is there a way to transfer stuff (like the "connected car" info, profiles, etc.) to us? Was Sirius XM a standard feature that stays with the car? Because she's able to play it right now.

I'm kind of wistful for the time when you got keys and a remote and a manual...

Services like Connected Car and XM Radio are both paid services and are non-transferable. If those services are active, just wait until they expire and then buy service in your name. Certain channels on XM are always active and sometimes they will offer a period of free service to hopefully entice you into buying long term agreement.

I believe you can get Connected Car free for three months. Download the MyBuick app and go to OnStar to sign up.

The manual is available online, it's not great but it can be found here.

Check with a Buick dealer if they would or can do a factory reset otherwise you may be trying to figure out what the previous owner may have setup.

First step have owner sign the title.
If I remember correctly.
Just kidding, easy way is assume old owners idenity
Then no title signing is necessary

That’s just for recognition by the state. I care more about recognition by all the gizmos and software in/around the car.

Just hit the OnStar button and tell them you're the new owner. They'll handle it, and give you a free trial of OnStar and all the features.

Factory restore and start fresh, vehicles can't transfer like phones can.

Not sure if that restore will wipe out all the previous settings for Bluetooth connections, etc. maybe someone else on the forum can confirm on that function.

Yeah I understood what you wanted, it was my feeble attempt at humor... with the way you worded it.
I was looking at it from back in the day of my first car in1970 ...........
when there was no software just hardware.

Flash forward to 12 years ago ...
there was more software, but I still liked getting the hardware option.

And then 22 years ago a little software, but still opted for hardware.

Yep, 1970 was 50+ years ago. Things have changed more than a Little Johnson.

60's era owner transfer was adjust mirrors, move seat forward or backwards and drive. Oh no pairing devices neened either lol.
