Bought a new keyless remote since the two I got from the P.O. were pooched. Now when I use the new remote to unlock the door, the drivers seat moves all the way fwd. I think the presets on the memory seat are doing this, however the memory 1 setting cannot be re-set.
Is there a way to disable the memory seats?

Why can it not be reset? The system should let you set the memory position--even while driving--if you hold down the memory button long enough.

Can you get it to swap between settings by pressing memory 1 and memory 2 key-on, engine off? I usually test this system standing in a parking lot with the door open.

If the memory 1 button does not return it to position 1, it could be that the switch is broken. They're pretty cheap on these cars, because they are one of the few non-lit switches.

You might need to resynchronize the remote to the car by pressing and holding the lock and unlock buttons at the same time for about 8 seconds. You'll get a chirp and a lights flash when the resynchronize is complete.

When you use your remote to unlock the doors and then start the car - does the Driver Information Center say you're Driver 1 or 2 or Unknown?

To tell which Driver the DIC has associated with your remote:

1 - Turn the key to ON

2 - Press the Unlock button on your remote

3 - Press and hold the ENG/MET button on the DIC for up to 5 seconds

The next display will be your Driver number

You can now make changes to the Personal Choices options

4 - Use the ENG/MET to select options and the RESET button to save the selections and to advance to the next option

The Personal Choice Programming information can be found on page 2-91 of the BPA owners manual.

Hope this helps.

Fixed!

Could not reset to driver 1.
I suppose my new keyless remote put the seat in the previous owner position.
I removed the memory switch from the door and found three loose solder connections on the memory switch board. Driver 1 switch was not working.

Re-soldered the pin outs on the board, now able to re-program the memory.

Wouldn't be surprised if this was a rather common problem due to moisture and thousands and thousands of door slams...
