I heard back from Magnaflow and they are very interested in a group sale. They will have the following two products available shortly:

2011 L4 2.0L; Turbocharged
5 x 8 x 14in. Muffler, 4 x 14in. Resonator; 2.5in. Tubing; 3.0in. Polished Stainless Tip; DUAL SPLIT REAR EXIT Cat-Back

2011 L4 2.4L
5 x 8 x 14in. Muffler, 4 x 14in. Resonator; 2.5in. Tubing; 3.0in. Polished Stainless Tip; DUAL SPLIT REAR EXIT Cat-Back

They will have sound clips available soon, no eta as of yet. I have volunteered to be the test car if necessary and they are fine with that.

They do however, want some numbers on the number of buyers before they will commit to any prices.

Post up your vote and let's see if we can get some manly exhausts on our cars.

That's the problem, how can someone be in if they don't know the price. A lot of people were in on borla until they said $1000. They need to give us a ballpark figure.

We are not giving them a commitment to buy, just inquiring. On the same token, if they are willing to sell to us at a discount, I believe it's perfectly reasonable for them to ask for the number of potential buyers before they quote a price.

I did mention the Borla price and our dissatisfaction with it so they know what our expectations are.

Typically when you get a group buy there's a standard price, say $500. The company says if we get 5 orders, they'll give us 5% off, 10 orders, 10% off, etc etc. it's our responsibility to get enough people together for the discount, but we need to know how many systems needed to be ordered for what discount. Very weird for a company like magnaflow to want the number of potential orders without hardly any info on the system, no sound clip or price.

Like Boosted said.

Who wouldn’t be interested in a Turbo Magnaflow option?

That being said, no price and no clips make it pretty hypothetical.

The Borla exhaust set the price bar sky-high and I think turned some people off. I would love to see Magnaflow bring out another option, and what kind of product they can bring to the table.

Thanks for putting in the work goobee with a company like Magnaflow.

Thanks for checking. Anxious to hear updates.

I am now in contact with one of their Product Development Managers and working on getting a clip made. I'm volunteering my car to be the test subject, we just need to work out the legal stuff.

Will keep everyone posted.

Having started driving when catalytic converters first came out, I learned they are the most restrictive part of the exhuast system. Maybe someone more technolgically advanced can post a comment on how things have changed since then, but I'm thinking a "cat back" is not going to offer any performance gains. Maybe it will have a better exhuast note, but that's probably it. I might consider it if I wanted to go from a single to a dual out exhuast, but us turbo owners already have nice chrome tipped dual's. I'm thinking it might be a nice, but unwarrented upgrade unless you got a bunch of extra change in your piggy bank. Just my $.02.

It is no longer as bad as it was in the early days. Today's cars are designed to run with the CAT in mind. If you take the CAT off of a modern car, the engine will run terribly.

The hurdle has been long conquered. Modern engineering and computers control everything. 5.0L V8 engines that barely achieved 150hps back then can now exceed 300 - 400hps easily.

Better exhaust note and maybe 3 - 5hps gain.

Any updates on the exhaust?

Any updates on the exhaust?

Nothing to report yet. I'm meeting up with them next Saturday to swap cars. They're keeping it 3 days to try different combinations to meet our expectations.

Wife is a bit iffy but I told her Magnaflow is a big company, not a rinky dink operations.

Have no idea, it just better not be a fricking Honda Fit or similar. 😡

Honda fit with a mangaflow exhaust :headbang:

A cat back will provide anywhere from 5-15 hp without a tune on a turbo car. With a tune, it'll probably be slightly higher. Cat backs, as long as they're a large enough diameter and preferably as straight as possible, are almost always a good upgrade on a turbo car.

You can get a high flow cat (minimal hp loss vs a regular cat) from ZZP (or get a custom made one) to go with the cat back exhaust. The whole setup will perform best with a tune and probably net 20-30 whp or more over just a tune.
