I purchased my 2012 Regal GS in December. My Regal came with the 20" summer tires.

Since I live in Ontario (across from Detroit) I purchased winter tires and rims.

My GM dealer informed me of a bulletin where GM recommends that only 20 inch winter tires should be installed on this vehicle.

Attached to this e-mail are pictures of my car I took recently with my Winter tire set-up.

The Winter tires I have installed are 20" Bridgestone Blizzack LM-60s.

The 20" rims I have installed are Asanti Avarus AV-6 rims. I personally think these rims look fantastic on black Regal GS models. The chrome lip of the rim matches well with the chrome accents on the vehicle.

I have also tinted the windows on my vehicle.

Hope you enjoy!

By chance, anyone have or has viewed this bulletin? Will be doing same next fall. Usual websites such as Tire Rack, 1010Tire, TireTrends, (last 2 both Canadian sites) all have optional 18 and 19 inch offerings..

That looks really good! Thanks for posting these pictures!

If there is a bulletin saying to only use 20's why would they come stock with 19's with optional 20's? Sounds strange to me.

Agreed with this.

I have a 19" winter wheel set up. No issues. The car came with the 20's. Your dealer may be on the crack pipe...just saying.

The document which my dealer showed me that recommended the 20 inch winter tires has a GM document ID of 291200.

The title of the document is "#04-03-10-013G: Driving Characteristics of Rear Drive Vehicles and Available Winter Tires - (Oct 16, 2012)"

Now I know what you are thinking, the GS is not a rear wheel drive car (I know this!). However, the 2012 - 2013 Buick Regal GS is included on this bulletin as well as many other high performance GM vehicles (including the Pontiac G8 and the 2013 ATS).

Google is a truly wonderful thing... found in the ZL1 forum of camaro5.com:

I personally think there's an error on the GS listing, because the OE RIM and OE TIRE SIZE aren't even consistent. It should have two separate rows similar to the G8's listing. And it doesn't have an asterisk like the Camaro 21" wheel requiring an upsize.

Guess its time they create an -013H... TRICIA, can you send this to the appropriate person or group to be corrected?

Awesome look! I'm running into trouble finding wheels that will fit over the Brembo's. Did the Avarus's have any trouble with that? If not then I'll order the Avarus AV6's asap.

Thanks,

Tyler

be careful with 18s. i had originally bought a GS-specific set of 18" wheels/snow tires and they didn't clear the brembos in the front! luckily tirerack was awesome and i switched to a set of 19s that i like even better:

18s work just fine. i have them leftover from my g8 gxp with the brembos and zero issues.

I have these 18 inch rims (from buick regal cxl) with the OE michelin tires as my winter tire setup on my regal GS. They clear the brembo brakes, have nearly an identical rotation per mile so the speedometer is not off, and a happy surprise is a smoother ride. Did I mention they're great in the Michigan snow? Couldn't be happier!
