I wasthinking about changing speakers in doors and rear deck, just wanted to see if this was worthwhile... Possibly thinking about adding sub and amp too, seems like there is plenty of room in the trunk for a single subwoofer (however I have not had good experience tapping into speaker wire for amp inputs). Looks like the rear deck 6x9's would be an easy upgrade...

I haven't looked into the details of the Harmon Kardon system in the Regals, but be sure to do some solid research into how the system is put together. I've come across a number of cars in recent years with these "branded" audio systems from the factory that were virtually impossible to upgrade because of individually amplified speakers. I know Audi is very bad about that and I believe MB or BMW does the same thing with theirs.

I'm just dying to put some money into this car! I checked the speakers with my voltmeter and it looks like they run about 2 ohms, which is how I assume they run 9 speakers on 400 watts. The amp is located in the trunk area on the passenger side right behind the interior trim pieces. Very easy to access. All of this interrogation however has really gotten me nowhere... The amp is difficult to figure out (which speakers are which, ohm load, also seems like some of the speakers actually have voltage running through them). The speakers also do not denote positive or negative terminals as older models typically did... This all is frustrating, nonetheless I still want to pump a little more sound out of this system....

A GM stereo will typically run your front speakers directly from the head unit then power rear subs with an amp. This is how they run Monsoons, and Blaupunkts. The more recent Camaro has Line outputs that go into the amp and a lot of people have tapped into those to run an aftermarket amp off the factory head unit. I have a feeling if you find the pin out for the amp plug, you will find how to change out your audio system. I used to run a car audio store catering mostly exclusively to GM vehicles so this is coming from a knowledgeable place.

I sealed up my rear deck speakers and used an MTX ReQ-3 to tap into the deck speakers. I added a Kenwood KAC-7204 bridged 500x1 @4 ohms on a Sundown Audio E-10 in a vented enclosure tuned at 37 Hz. The rest of the HK system in stock and it sounds great.

Good luck with your upgrades.

Hey do you have any detailed instructions on your setup with the MTX LOC? I would like to do the same but never used a LOC, just regular amp installs etc...

I did full hybrid audio technology mirus's and a sub, make sure you don't cheap out on the loc's, other than that our stock system is pretty terrible, anything other than stock is an upgrade.

Fold down the back seats and lift up the carpet in the trunk.
You will see the "keyless entry antenna".

Has anyone with a "system" or just alot of "JUNK IN YO TRUNK" had any problems with reception?

Has anyone RELOCATED this yet?, any issues?
