Brake Pressure - Brembos

...and I got KING KONG in my trunk!

Beautiful.

Those bearings don't look nearly as bad as my 130k mile ones on my old Sunfire. They were rusted to the car, had to dremel them out 😛 Make sure you get a wheel alignment!

Awesome info guys! Thanks for that! I'll do some research to see if they are the same on the 14, no reason they shouldn't be.

I'm not an alignment specialist, but I'm not sure there is much to adjust in the rear. I did have both knuckles off to massage the hub out with the BFH! I DID have an appointment first thing Saturday morning for; tires, an alignment, and NY inspection...... Good thing I called before I left home, because they didn't get my tires delivered yet, so I went back to sleep for a few hours.

I'm going to do front rotors and pads SOON. I think I'm going with OEM rotors and new "high dust" track pads. I'm going to polish, seal, wax the rims so hopefully the dust will just jump off when I pressure wash them.

I replaced all hubs on my old sunfire; the rears didn't need an alignment, but the front definitely did. I made the mistake (of an 18 year old) and didn't get it, ended up balding the inside of one of my tires. But that could have also been because I replaced the front suspension, also 😉

When I waxed my rims, the dust just flowed off with just water from the hose, and VERY little scrubbing was actually required. The pain is the dust on the WDT paint... after a few days it starts darkening the sides.

The OEM front Brembo Brake Pads are P/N- 13329562.

The Low Dust font Brembo Brake Pads are P/N- 22866931.
^^(from the master thread)

Bearings bad?, YUP. First thing to break on this car. The left had some play in it & the right was definitely humming in the turns. It probably doesn't help that I drive through Salt & Sand 5-6 months of the year and I got KING KONG in my trunk!

Took some pics for a "How-To" (yeah that's a snowbank in the middle of April)

Quick search shows the 22866931 are discontinued. Those bearings look rough, worse than the one's I replaced on my old Sunfire. Buy new ones from the dealer, or an auto parts store?

Well, I finally got it back and the problem seems to be solved; much more brake pressure now compared to previous weeks, although there isn't much of a bite. I wonder if swapping out the pads for something better would improve the bite? I have the replacement TSB pads in there right now (and I should probably look at replacing the rears).
Did they flush the brake lines and place new fluid in?

New hub/bearings from NAPA. P/N BR930777 ......... $ 183.60 each (*tip* -bring your AAA card for a discount)

Another tip, if you can wait a few days for a part, I'm often shocked at the prices Amazon has for name-brand replacement parts. This particular hub, by AC Delco (FW401), is only $80.30, with free shipping via Amazon Prime (although it looks like they only have one in stock as of this writing).

I'm a big fan of my local parts stores, and I support them often, but sometimes the prices from Amazon are just too good to pass up.

I am at 25k miles and my brakes do not have as much bite as well. I am thinking new pads or fluid flush is on order. Anyone know the rating of the stock brake fluid?

30,000 miles? why didn't you take it to the dealer that seems like premature failure to me (coming from the guy that cant get his dealer to do anything right and regrets not just spending his own money on the issue to have it done correctly without hassle).

My bad. Double post/bad edit.

Exactly. I really don't have time for the dealers shit.
Furthermore; I have a weird schedule, I live in the middle of the woods, My dealer doesn't have "loaners", I wanted to try to break some tools so I have an excuse to buy more, I had NO open wounds on my hands and my fingernails were way too clean, I get off on taking everything apart to see how it works, NO REGRETS.

Brake Fluid is DOT 4.

YO ME TOO!
the most random things ill look at and take apart to see how everything comes together lol

Breaking tools to buy more is easily the best reason I work on stuff.

@David - yes, lines were flushed and new brake fluid was put in. I would have done it myself, but I only have patience for bleeding motorcycle brake lines, not ABS cars 😉

LOL! @ the breaking tools as an excuse to buy new ones!

I broke a craftsman shallow 13mm socket once...with a breaker bar...while trying to get the nuts off the turbo to exhaust mani on the Cobalt.

I ended up punching the underside of the car when it gave and broke LOL

I'll also be getting powerstop drilled and slotted because sexy 😀
link? I want to look at them.

I wasn't going to but,,,,,,,,

(almost invisible GS)

The rear was spot on (even though I just tore it apart). The front was a bit off.

How many miles on your GS? Wondering if I should get my alignment checked as well. .

Just the tip of 31,000 miles.

No bad potholes. I have hit rough train tracks hard a few times.

{something like 90% of the cars on the road are out of alignment}

I had an alignment done at 29k miles. My rears are the ones that needed an alignment. I'll upload it tonight.

Here's the link for the drilled/slotted rotors.

If you've a hard time viewing, here are the part numbers for Power Stop drilled/slotted:

Brembo Front Right: AR8680XR - $92.74
Brembo Front Left: AR8680XL - $94.58
Rear Vented Right: AR82146XL - $78.05
Rear Vented Left: AR82146XR - $78.05

And part numbers for EBC Redstuff Ceramic Pads:

Brembo Fronts: DP31210C - $170.25
Vented Rears: DP32016C - $56.15

Those look good and they are coated so they won't rust (as fast).

I wish I could find the Insignia OPC rotors...

I was joking, I always get an alignment when I get new tires.
