Hello everyone,
I'm a french owner of a 96 Park Avenue and I'm new on this forum.
I have my car for two years ago and I recently changed the radio. I installed a double din Pionner. I found adaptators for wiring, dashboard and steering wheel control and all is ok... EXCEPT the HVAC dimming. The VF doesn't dim (the buttons do but they are on an other wiring).
I understand the VF dim control goes through the factory radio and then a purple/white wire between the radio and HVAC control. This purple/white wire is not connected with the new radio. I tried to connect it directly on the grey wire (dimming signal input) but it doesn't still work.
Does anyone have an idea and/or a solution? It would be great!!
Thanks a lot!!
p.s. I just hope my english is not too bad.....

I have never seen anyone post an easy solution to get the HVAC display to dim with a non-factory radio. Personally, I just live with it as it does not bother me much.

I remember someone said he put his factory radio in the trunk, keeping it wired up, so his VF would dim. He did not mention which wires he had to run to the factory radio in the trunk.

Thank you Bigsky!
I'll wait few days and if it appears there really is no solution, I'll just put a little sheet of dark plastic film (as for windows) on the HVAC control screen.
Just wait and see!
S.
