Brake Pressure - Brembos

Haha! No worries, got my attention 😀

That's cool of you to have done that to your manual. Good idea too.

Any updates Wierz?

In my 12 GS the brakes are a 2-3 like everyone else, but I had taken mine into the dealer for service and test drove the 14 and in my opinion the brakes aren't as good maybe a 6-7. The only difference to me was the 14 had 20's and my 12 has 19's. My only complaint is that I needed new pads at 19k miles.

Still in the shop (part hasn't come in...). He said they had a few tech drive it and none found any problems; they will have it on the lift tomorrow to install the part that is being overnighted and will look then. This is getting frustrating. I just want to tell them to bleed the brakes if they haven't found anything yet!

What part is it?

I know you use good gasoline, but have you ever run any fuel system/ injector cleaner through it?

While it is there, have them bleed the brakes and install new plugs. (It's worth a shot)

How long does it take to get a thread started. I tried doing one yesterday around noon and I'm still waiting for it to start.

@SoCal - It should be instantaneous. Try again.

@Niz - It's a bracket that goes underneath the car to hold the bumper to the frame; they forgot to reinstall it back on after they did service the last time (that employee who did had a record of doing it, he's been released) :damnit: I'll call him in the morning and have them bleed the brakes. I use Mobil gas, and have run Seafoam through the system a while back. Replace plugs as in, spark plugs? How come?

It said that it had to be approved by the buick gods first.

Strange...send them a PM to see whats up (either Sal or one of the mods)

Called him this morning and told them just to replace the brake fluid. I told him I want them as tight as the CTS I was driving, and if it wasn't they were going to have to do them again. I think he's getting sick of me calling him 😛

LOL That's badass right there. Good going! Hope they get it done for ya! 🙂

Haha, they've had it for TWO weeks, I am getting tired of the shit they are trying to pull. :headbang: It's got Brembos, it should feel like it has Brembos, not like a damn Toyota Crapolla.

Agreed with all the above!

Dealers can be a pain sometimes. Just depends on how hard the tech that's working on your car, wants to work. Some techs, are AWESOME. Some are just there for the paycheck.

Well, I finally got it back and the problem seems to be solved; much more brake pressure now compared to previous weeks, although there isn't much of a bite. I wonder if swapping out the pads for something better would improve the bite? I have the replacement TSB pads in there right now (and I should probably look at replacing the rears).

That's great to hear. The flush probably did the trick. Keep an eye out for the feel the next couple weeks. Mine were good right after the flush and replacement of the fluid but started to do the same thing about a month in and that's when we confirmed the brake booster failure.

Hopefully this is not the case with you though. As far as the pads, now that everyone mentions it, although the brembos on my GS grab well, they aren't like the ones on my cobalt. I wonder if all the hubub about the tsb replacement pads are the culprit and just don't bite as hard? There's definitely less dust on these than on my cobalt.

I would trade the less dust for a harder bite any day. I wash my car weekly by hand so the dust won't be an issue.

Anyone know if there are still the older OEM pads available out there? Only other brand can think of would be HAWK Performance. Like the HPS or the HPS+.

My brakes are amazing and sometimes exceed the ABS threshold. My original pads were worn down after 20k and I was too scared by the dealer to replace with the TSB brakes because they said that while there was a TSB out, if they couldn't replicate the squealing, I would have to pay for the labor to replace the pads, or at least the diag fee. So for $120 I put in the EBS Red stuff and I really like them. They did squeal a little when I got them but nothing since they broke in. Almost no dust and stops great with a great pedal.

Hey thanks for the input! I never tried the EBT products. I might give'em a look see.

Red Stuff will probably be my next pads... just recently installed them on a buddy's GTI and he loves them. I'll also be getting powerstop drilled and slotted because sexy 😀 For now the pressure is great, hopefully those EBS' will help with the bite!

Glad to hear the brakes are better. I just changed out both rear wheel hubs/bearings (@ almost 31,000 miles). The rear pads looked like they had 40-50% life left..... I had new pads ready to go, but I left the factory pads on because they were still good.

@cubaniche,

I took some pics of the factory TRACK/High Dust pads.....

Yup, covered in brake dust....

SO MUCH dust, it must have gotten all over the camera lens.

Scrub the skank off....

Looks like 6A503266
OR.......... 6A5032GS
OR.......... 6A503265
OR.......... GA503265

I have tried searching every number on this pad with no results.

These fronts are the same as the 2012-2013 Camaro, dunno if that helps much.

dat dust layer. Tried searching for every combo I could "see" and yielded no results. Ender gave good information there, I'd check those pads. And your bearings were shot at 31k???

The OEM front Brembo Brake Pads are P/N- 13329562.

The Low Dust font Brembo Brake Pads are P/N- 22866931.
^^(from the master thread)

Bearings bad?, YUP. First thing to break on this car. The left had some play in it & the right was definitely humming in the turns. It probably doesn't help that I drive through Salt & Sand 5-6 months of the year and I got KING KONG in my trunk!

Took some pics for a "How-To" (yeah that's a snowbank in the middle of April)
