I'm pretty sure they use the oil labeled AC Delco dexos1 5W-30. It's what's for sale in the parts department if you really want to buy their oil. No idea who makes the oil for GM, however; but I believe it's a synthetic blend.
Thank you for the replies. The reason I asked is because I also prefer a full synthetic oil. I had changed the oil with around 1500 miles with Mobil 1 and a K&N filter, if I bring it to the dealer for the complimentary oil change, I will request the full synthetic.
It also depends how long you go between oil changes. If you use the oil life monitor (which I wouldn't...) then go fully synthetic, or if you drive it quite hard also go fully synthetic. If you're doing more frequent oil changes (i.e. 3mo/5000k) then the dexos is perfectly fine. No sense paying more for no reason unless you'll actually benefit.
^lol I'm surprised they do it. Can't stand when people supply their own stuff. 9/10 times it's wrong

Why wouldn't you go by the OLM? I only go by the OLM. Manual said to do it so I figured I'd see how long it lets me go on the same oil and I average 7k(I do 100 miles a day) on an oil change. 7k seemed way to long to me so I sent a sample of the last two oils for analysis and they said the monitor was actually being conservative. It was actually a pretty neat report they provided.
As long as you send in the oil for testing then you know for sure. What oil do you use?
Still under warranty so it goes to the dealer and based on earlier in this thread someone said delco dexos 2 5w-30
