1998 Buick Lesabre no crank

Hey everyone, my 98 lesabre has been nothing but good to me up until a few encounters recently where the car wont even crank. I was told by a mechanic buddy that it may be the neutral safety switch, which I would've totally belived if another time this happened no matter what gear i was in the car wouldn't start until I slammed my fist down on the steering column. So my question is: does this sound like a neutral safety switch or potentially an ignition module? Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

I found that my vats bypass was coming loose, hasnt happened since..

Thanks, seems the VATS is the root cause, one way or another, much of the time for this problem.
