Earlier in the year, I replaced the rear fusebox (on my DTS, but thought I'd post here since the hardware is basically the same) after the fuel pump relay got a little toasty inside of it. Unfortunately, while I did get a few good trips out of it, the box had to be replaced again this week. I'd rather not have to rely on buying used $200 boxes every four months, so has anyone had any luck repairing theirs?

On the surface, I like the look of these instructions. They accompany a "fix kit" from Renegade Solution Company, which basically just consists of a few basic tools, plus the low-profile relay and a replacement terminal. As luck would have it, I already possess most of those tools and a spare relay, so would just need to find what they are referring to as a terminal.

Is something like this what is being referenced in those instructions? If so, I'm strongly considering picking up a few of those to fix my two broken boxes and keep (at least) one as a spare. Anybody tried doing this recently?

After reworking the seat frame and installing the low profile relay all according to the TSB the relay fried again, UGH. That whole TSB was baloney, the seat never contacted the box, all baloney.

The original boxes had a manufacturing defect in them. There are 2 good videos on You-tube showing different repairs, one shows separating the sandwiched and bonded sections of the lower box to access the area where the bad contacts are, the other just runs a wire jumper over from a good area in the box and abandoning that particular socket.

After deciding I wanted to keep the car (my wife's car) I ponied up the money for the dealer only, new part#, upgraded quality, final solution replacement box.

Part Number: 84446208

Part Name: Rear Fuse Block

Price: $410.02

So far it has been satisfactory.
this is entirely a case of poor manufacturing quality, and a lack of control and sustaining engineering to keep up with it.

Try again:

In the Lucerne forum and on YouTube there are some relay repairs where the relay is mounted outside of the box with additional wiring and interface harness all DIY. I have a 07 so no need to do anything.

I cut the bracket off under the back seat above the fuse box, replaced my fuse box and never had a problem again.
