Hello I need some help diagnosis with my 03 century, I have the P0446 and P0102 i cleaned the MAF with the cleaner and it didn't help so waiting for the new MAF sensor to come in but I'm not sure if that will even help, my cat is stalling out all the time now it did it just randomly at stop signs etc but now I can't even drive it, does anyone have any suggestions before I start buying a bunch of new parts or have to take it to a shop? I don't have a lot to spend trying to buy what is needed first then get everything else over time any help is much appreciated that

The first thing you need to know/realize is that Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) never ever tell you that a part is good, bad, or somewhere in-between. DTCs tell you that there is a problem with a circuit or a system. Many times, it is caused by a loose wire, a faulty ground, or other poor electrical connection.

Now in the case of the P0446 DTC, it is telling you that there is a problem with the EVAP system's EVAP vent valve control circuit. Common causes include a wiring problem to the EVAP vent valve, a loose fitting gas cap, a problem with the fuel tank's vapor pressure sensor circuit, a defective EVAP vent control valve, or a leak in the EVAP system where a smoke test will be needed to pinpoint the leak.

In the case of the P0102 DTC, it is telling you that there is a problem with the MAF sensor circuit giving a low input signal to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Causes can include problems with the air intake system (including vacuum leaks or clogged air filters), a dirty or defective MAF sensor, problems with the electrical wiring to the MAF sensor.

To me it sounds like you have a massive vacuum leak. You'll need to find a vacuum line routing diagram to make sure everything is connected. Be sure and look over the vacuum lines and make sure none are unplugged, broken, cracked, etc. Also look over the large rubber "hoses" between the air filter and the throttle body and make sure they are not torn.

Here is a link the to the vacuum line hose routing diagram:

Additionally here is a link to a FREE online service manual for your 2003 Buick Century. It has many helpful diagnostic charts, troubleshooting charts, etc.

Good luck and if you need to feel free to ask more questions!
