So I finally made my first mod on my 2012 Regal GS after about a year of owning the car. In that first year I researched all the possible mods for our LHU platform, and finally ended up pulling the trigger on the GM Performence Stage Kit. Part number is 12653664. Consist of a cold air inlet system, new gas cap, emission sticker and Premium Fuel Required sticker. Also a Electronic Control Module calibration, which has to be done at a authorized GM dealer.

I initially planned on trying to install the new intake myself, and I did just that, I tried lol. I ended up giving up after about 2 hours and decided to just have my good friend put in for me. Lucky for me he is a Certified mechanic at the same GM dealer I plan on taking my car into for the ECM calibration. It only took him about 30 mins to install it lol. Saved me about 125 dollars! I’m assuming the dealer would have charged me the full hour to put in the intake.

So now that we’ve got the intake in it was time to take in the car for the ECM calibration. That only took them about an hour worth of work at the Dealer. Ended up costing around 125 for the calibration, probably would have been double if I had them put in the intake there. Thank god for good friends.

So before I get into the results I gotta talk about the price for all this which I find pretty pricey compared to other intake options we have for our LHU platform. I searched around for a couple weeks and found that JEGS has the lowest price for this. Technically PerformenceAutoWerks has the lowest listed price at about $690 but after shipping you still end up paying a bit more then going through JEGS. I believe JEGS has it listed for $712. Now let me remind you after spending 700+ dollars you still have to pay an additional 100+ dollars at the dealer for the ECM calibration. So after everything is said and done you’re looking at close to 900 dollars spent!

IMO it was totally worth it! I can definitely feel the power difference, it’s even a tad better on gas now.

Thanks! Now I’m itching for the next mod!! I’m thinking the shorty down pipe from Performence AutoWerks!

Where did you buy the intake? I’ve been trying to find one
