Updated !! 2005 buick lacrosse instrument cluster swap ?

I have in my shop 2004 lacrosse with a completely dead instrument cluster. Do to owners Diy YouTube repair that failed. He has already sent it off to 3 Speedo repair services that say it can't be repaired. I can get a used cluster and swap it in. I do understand the milage will not be correct. But will it work?? Is there a immobilizer in cluster that will not let it start. I do not wanna just swap in a used cluster as customer is asking before researching this first. He has already tried cloning options but he's original cluster is completely dead. Thank you

It is plug and play and works.. Of course the milage doesn't match but everything works. Two different clusters for those years. I found a 07 donor with the same options as 05. Everything works and ecm/security seems happy on the snapon virsus readout. Again milage won't match

Want to share my experience also - 2006 Buick LaCrosse with a dead cluster - bought a used replacement one from junkyard on ebay and swapped it in. No issues. The mileage is different but at this point, don't care, just need a working cluster. Interesting thing is the GM part number on the white sticker on the cluster did not match. Took a gamble and it still worked.
