This morning, I went to my local GMC/Buick dealer to get an oil change and tire rotation.
The service advisor sent me into his office while he stayed outside to write up the car.
He was out there over 10 minutes and, when I glanced outside, I noticed the front wheels were turned all the way to the left which I found odd as that's not how I left it.
When he finally came in to the office, he showed me an alleged photo of my DIC displaying a "SERVICE TRANSMISSION" message.
He said "it just came up when I started it".
I gave him a look of disbelief and told him that I'd never seen that message nor had I had any notifications from the app that the transmission was having any issues.
I just wonder how he got that message to come up. Maybe he just has a "stock photo" of some other car's DIC showing that message so he can sell a transmission flush job.
None-the-less, I told him to kick rocks and that all I wanted was the oil, filter, and tire rotation (I had a $35 off coupon for that service).
Oddly, nothing was noted on the "multi-point checklist" about the transmission needing service.
I even logged into the MyBuick app and checked vehicle status as I waited and found nothing indicating transmission issues.
I have been thinking of going to an independent mechanic rather than the "stealership" for service.
This experience has sealed the deal.
No more dealer service for me.
BTW - my TourX has just over 32,000 miles on it.

So you didn't go to your car when he showed you the picture to see for yourself?

I have to assume, that when you drove away from the dealer & checked the DIC, there was not a message about the "Service Transmission" issue?

No - no "service transmission" message when service was completed.
And no - I did not go to my car to see the actual message because I knew right away I was being scammed.
