I've read comments in this forum that Lesabres built for MY2004 and newer had improved LIM gaskets. I have a 2005 Lesabre, build date was November 2004. I'm curious if I am safe not to replace the LI gaskets? Does anyone know for sure the gaskets are bullet proof?

I will probably still replace them with the good metal Felpro as I dont always trust OEM upgrades.

Curious on comments.

They're not bulletproof. They are supposedly improved from the previous years. You'll be better off going with the metal based gaskets like Fel-Pro.

Not many LIM gaskets last 20-yrs on the 3.8 engine. If you are concerned (which you should be), I would replace them!

Thanks for the feedback. yes, I am going to do the upper plenum and LIM gaskets along with the aluminum coolant elbows on this car. I just did my 2000 Lesabre for the very same reason. I found 2 of the LIM ports were on their way to failing so I caught it in time.

Victor Reinz and Apex also make the metal based LIM gaskets along with GM Genuine...plenty of choices!!!
