does not start

As I stated above, my 1992 Buick Park Avenue with EU Specs stopped working after a mechanic fixed the faulty crankshaft and noticed a smoldered wire afterwards. It's supposed to be that bundle of cables behind the serpentine belt as shown in the pictures. It now doesn't even turn it goes...

I recently purchased a 2002 Buick regal, it has a few minor problems but over all not too bad. I have noticed that the shift indicator on the instrument cluster and gear shifter on center console always says Drive. However the shifter moves through and changes gears. I am clueless to the cause...
