Anyone else run into this oddball issue with the memory for the side view mirrors?
My wife and I are different heights, so we have our side view mirrors set differently. Specifically, her passenger's side mirror setting is in (turned towards the car) and down (turned towards the pavement) from mine.
If I've been driving the car and she recalls her setting (either by unlocking with her key fob or pressing the "1" setting on the door), it works fine.
If she's been driving the car and I recall my setting (either by unlocking with my key fob or pressing "2" on the door) it gets about halfway there and then goes spastic, jerking back and forth a bit before giving up somewhere in between her setting and my setting. If I then use the manual switch to move the mirror all the way out and up, and then recall my setting, it recalls correctly.
The manual motion of both mirrors using the switch is perfect, no issues, and the memory recall on the driver's mirror also works fine with no issues.
The behavior to me looks like a bad spot on whatever potentiometer it's using to sense position. I've looked through my service manuals to try to determine if that's in the mirror housing itself, or in the passenger's side door module. The manual makes it look like it's in the module, but that seems odd to me. Can anyone verify that?
And if it is in the module, can I just swap another one in, or do I have to do some sort of programming to the BCM (or have the dealer program it)?
TIA for any help!
