This is a great forum, and am sorry I didn't find it sooner. I own two Buicks, a 1999 Century and a 1994 Buick Roadmaster wagon in matte black (wood grain delete). This is my second 1994 LT1 wagon and the car is mechanically sound EXCEPT that I am burning a lot of oil (1 qt ~ 500 miles).
It is painfully obvious when I get off of the highway after a long drive on an exit with a slight incline while slowing to a stop. A huge cloud of grey smoke emerges, and when starting again there is a ticking noise and loss of power for a couple of minutes. All leaks have been taken care of. No loss of coolant so I don't believe any coolant is mixing with the oil. My last Roadmaster never had this problem. Are we looking at a valve job? Mileage is mediocre (~19 highway). Power is good, though not quite as good as it was on my last wagon (a '94 Caprice). Mechanic said spark plugs look good. History of the car is largely unknown, though it had some unfortunate customizations on the body that I am undoing.
