Howdy all,

I just bought my replacement car for my now deceased 1989 Ford LTD wagon, and I got this:

Dealer was asking 1800, internet price of 1200, bargained them down to 900 and they replaced a brake line. Idler arm is a little loose, but not to terrible. All up and down play. Tie rod ends have a touch of up and down play in them, no side to side. This thing goes like stink!

Hopefully they will still have the link up for you to see it. So my question is this....what should I be looking for as far as problems with this car? Obviously the brake lines need checked, trans felt like it slipped a tad into second, but all other times it seemed perfect. Any advise you could give to a new RM owner? Hope to keep this on the road longer than my old wagon...may it rest in peace.

Thanks for your time, and hopefully Ill get many years out of this car and will be able to contribute to your community!

Thanks!!!!

Hi and welcome! Looks and sounds like you got a real deal, especially with the LT1. Hope you will get many miles of driving enjoyment from it.

I like it, that is my favorite color for a sedan. The body looks real good and the interior just looks like it needs a good cleaning. It will take you a little while to get her cleaned up and the kinks out, but you should get many years out of it.

There is a guy on the forum "Goldmaster" who has had several gold sedans. He did have a pretty good stock pile of parts especially gold parts. He is in the Detroit area. He will probably comment on your car.

tires, breaks, starter, shocks, tune up and get all the fluids flushed/changed

but great deal unless the tranny is shot and mileage is pretty good great price and i was jus in akron two weeks ago.

Look forward to hearing from him! Yeah, I certainly hope to get a good few years out of it, I really like the car. A little rough, but it's fast.

It did feel like it slipped in second once but I may have imagined it....felt perfect the entire time. I may try to get the number of the PO and ask if he had it rebuilt.

It still sits it toledo, busy with work so I gotta wait until friday to go get it! Will update on what I find

The car looks good. It's rare to see the limited versions with cloth. You got a good deal on it. You are right, they are fast. Especially, for the size. One of my last cars was a 95 Ford Crown Victoria and it made my Roadmaster feel like a much lighter, performance car. The Roadmaster never feels like it's struggling and can keep up with pretty much everything on the highway with ease.

those crown vics are nice cars though, built like tanks. I have a 97 town car, love it, never have problems with it. Yes, it was one of 700 to have cloth, and apparently one of a different 700 that was supposed to get exported to Kuwait! Interesting what you can find with the vin lookup

So it's suppose to be rare for a Limited to have cloth, eh? Mine has the grey cloth interior, wonder if it's rare for a 92?
