1995 Buick Park Avenue Ultra retainers for hub caps

I recently put new tires on my Buick, but was told the old retainers (oem 09592491) were no good. This item is no longer available, and I do not want to change the wheels or wheel covers. I am looking for some kind of resolution to the problem. I can still buy the hub cap covers, but they just fly off.
