I have a 1995 Buick Century Special Station Wagon (VIN: 1G4AG85M3S6469301) and need assistance in getting the parking brake warning switch to work properly. I replaced the switch (GM/ACD# 01264464 ) on the vehicle with the proper replacement made by Standard Motor Products #DS905 . The switch functions properly electrically. That is to say that when attached to the parking brake mechanism by its sheet metal screw and the brown colored wire is attached to it, the light will go out when the switch's copper metal S shaped tab is pressed forward. My problem is that when I release the parking brake by pulling the handle the light remains on because the paw that is supposed to contact the S shaped copper metal tab is not happending. There is a J shaped speed bolt that is supposed to be installed on to the paw, I misplaced that part, but I purchased on like it from the hardware department at hope depot. The speed bolt when installed on the paw is incapable of remaining in the proper position to contact the parking brake switch to turn the switch to off. What I need is a photograph of a parking brake mechanism with a working switch installed so that I can see how to place the J shaped speed bolt, or whatever will work, to force the switch into the closed position. I am going to attach pics of the mechanism on my 1995 Buick Century in hope that someone will respond and please take pics of a working parking brake mechanism and post them in response to this inquiry In anticipation of your response, I thank you.
