1997 Buick Lesabre Custom turns on wont turn over

i have a 1997 buick lesabre and when i go to turn it over i doesn't do anything .... you can here a click on the top left corner but it doesnt do anything else. What we think it is is an ignition switch problem.... Will i have to get a new ignition lock cylinder also and my key has a chip in it so will i have to have that replaced also?

Battery or ground connection or starter is almost always the problem when it won't start.

You are a little vague on your description but I will share a recent experience with my 97. Everything worked fine, parked it and went to restart it 3 hours later. Turned key, nothing happenned,not a grunt. The battery voltage fell to 3 volts when I turned the key. Replaced battery and zoom!
