Hi guys im having some trouble with my regal. My old Ignition switch went bad so i decided to wire in a push button start. The only problem is that i can’t seem to get it to start. The button will turn on the accessories and attempt to start the car but the starter will never spin over. The starter is fine and the battery is new as well. I have not yet tried to jump the starter over yet but i will be attempting that soon. According the wiring diagram that came with the push start system I need 6 wires. In parentheses are the wires i have been able to find under the dash
Starter (yellow?)
On/ignition 1 (Pink)
On/ignition 2 (????)
+12v (Red and Red/white, tied them together)
Acc (Orange)
I removed the shroud from around the key cylinder and i also see a brown wire connecting to the ignition switch. What is this wire for? Could it be my on/ignition 2?
I also checked with a test light and when i push the button to start the car the yellow starter wire gets power but the starter never spins over. Basically my question to you guys is why isn’t my starter spinning over? Oh and also with the push button installed none of my gauges work on my dash.
I have bypassed the vats key system years ago with resistors due to the wires fraying at the steering column. Any help or advice you might have is much appreciated!
