Hi,

We're having a number of issues with a 2000 Century, and are hoping for some pointers towards solving them.

First I'll mention that I have already fixed the ODO/PRNDL and Climate Control lighting with the usual resistor and re-solder fixes. Other problems we're having:

- Door locks are intermittent. Sometimes they work properly, sometimes only from the interior switches (not the key fob), and sometimes manual operation only. From some other threads I may have to dig under the front seat for cable harness connections? If so I may put it off for a month until it's warmer outside, but I want to mention it in case the rest may be related.

- The interior lights (center dome light, rear roof light, foot lights(?)) often stay on, even while driving. Also, they sometimes stays on as long as a half hour or more after leaving the vehicle - but eventually go off. We'd like to fix this one asap.

- Windshield wipers have a mind of their own on the intermittent settings. For example on a medium delay setting they may run 100% for 30 seconds, then do a delay like 3 seconds, and run 100% again.

- The ("no passenger"?) air-bag light is always on.

Tips appreciated, thanks!

sounds like you got a body control module going tits up. for the wipers it sounds like a vacuum leak or a delay module failure.

For the wipers... vacuum leak? really? There's a vacuum dependency?
Where is the delay module?

Would this be a good time to do a vehicle reset? Can you point me to info about that for the 2000 Century?

Any tips to narrow in on if the BCM is the problem?

the delay module or control is inside the cover for the motor. there is also a possibilty of the resistors inside the wiper switch has gone south. take the connector off of the wiper motor and check the contacts on the plug and motor for corrosion. also check the wiring. as far as the door locks and interior lighting, they are probably caused by the same thing, it could be a bad door lock relay, which if intermittent will keep causing the interior lights to come on intermittently. it could be a bad or corroded ground wire or damged wiring inside the conduit between and the frame.
