This is brand-new-to-me car. And It's sitting back at the dealer lot who sold it to me right now, here is the list I gave them of the "issues" going on with it.
"A few times when I have given it gas from a stop it doesn’t have the power it should have.
A few times when I have put it in drive, it won’t go, I look down and it’s in neutral. I thought I was losing my mind but after about the 8[SUP]th[/SUP] time it’s happened, I’m starting to think it’s not me and it’s slipping back into neural.
Once while stopped at a light, it started to idle rough, the RPMs jumped a couple times, felt like the car was going to lurch forward and then wanted to stall, I gave it a little gas to prevent it from stalling. The car acted funny the rest of that trip out. –rough idle, and RPM jumps.
On the interstate, while in cruise, the car lost all power. This was a few minutes after the RPM jumps again. Then I passed a truck, got in front of it, returned to my cruising speed, RPMs jumped again, then lost all power. RPMs went to zero, lost power steering. I was able to pull over, start it again.
A couple times when applying the brakes to come to stop the car feels like it’s… gliding? Like it overrides the brakes, it’s just for a brief second and then it feels back under control of the brakes."
Any thoughts while I wait for the dealer (used car lot, nothing fancy) to take a look. I'm not too thrilled with them right now. I've been on the side of the road with it twice now since buying it a month ago. First time it needed a new water pump. That was the 4th day I owned it. Other than that... it's a beauty. The engine is clean and lovely. No rust on the thing, southern car. 92K miles.
Edit to add: There are no lights lit up on the dash. Fluid levels were checked. I flushed the coolant, changed the oil. Also, tested battery and alternator and they were fine.
