Today on my way home from work I noticed that the RPM on my gauge was stuck at 0. I also noticed that there was a strange noise when I accelerated too hard. Didn't seem like the noise was happening too much at slow speeds, only when accelerating from stop, or when I accelerated at all at high speeds.

When I started my car it took a good few seconds to crank over. Normally it starts right up within a second, no issue. This one almost felt like when you try and start the car when the battery is dead. I kept holding the key on and it cranked after 3-4 seconds and was fine. I didn't notice the RPM wasn't moving till I was on the road. I connected my little obd scanner tool on the drive, and saw that the app was registering RPM, just not the gauge on the cluster. Ran a trouble code scan and didn't see any codes show up right away. Towards when I started getting close to home I ran the scanner again and it showed me a P0336 code, even though there was no check engine light on.

When I arrived home and parked the car, I saw a lot of white smoke coming out from the hood. I found a small hole in my upper radiator hose with a lot of liquid around the engine between the radiator front of the engine. When wiping it up it was black. I'm not too sure if this is oil or coolant. The hose was also squealing from the heat. I'm not sure if the noise I heard when driving home was stuff actively coming out from the hose or the heat or something like that. To note: the engine was not overheating at all. The temp gauge stayed right in the middle the whole drive, and it didn't seem like my coolant tank was super low.

Do you believe these two are related? I'd hate to spend money on the crankshaft position sensor since I see the app is giving me a reading. I plan on wiping things down and replacing the upper radiator hose and also refilling the coolant levels and reset the code to see if I get it again.

Not sure if it has anything to do with anything, but recently my ICM went bad as the coil for cyl 1-4 was not getting any spark, even after moving coils around. I replaced it and the car ran smoothly again, with no misfires anymore.

Any other ideas on what I could try doing, or if you believe something else is at fault? I do a little DIY work on the car, but I can attempt anything.
