2004 LeSabre - Check Engine Light (Lean fuel/air)

2004 Buick LeSabre check engine code P0171 (lean air/fuel ratio) we have cleaned MAF sensor and have done vacuum leak test. Took to the shop and he wouldn’t work on it, said it could be any one of 40+ things. Any ideas or tips on what to do next?
