Started & ran idling for few mins then died. Would not crank aft it died. Sounded like dead Batt. Batt measured 12.4v. A little later it cranked but no start. Smelled gas. Let sit for while then started hard. But died after few mins idling. Let sit a while and then no crank. ( Sounded like dead Batt again. codes P002, & P008. Came up. But why would that cause intermittent no crank? (Had two starters in on year.) Two Icm in two years. Four batt in 8 years. Confused!

Load test battery
Check battery cables for corrosion
Check charging system
Low quality parts may be the reason for the problems, especially for any electrical related components.

What Homer said.

I had 3 aftermarket chicomm ECMs give me issues in a 4 month period. One was dead right out of the box. ACDelco/OEM only, if you can get them. A bad board can give a host of crazy issues, including CPS codes.

Homer, is it possible that my transponder key is defective or the security system is somehow causing my car to act like this?

Very unlikely, start checking the items I listed above.

Agree with Homer. Had to bypass my kid's VAT-- the symptoms were nothing like this.
