2005 Buick LeSabre Limited
Hello! About 2 years ago I got a good deal on an '05 LeSabre. Car has been pretty trouble free aside from a coolant leak (it was the plastic coolant elbow), but there are some minor things wrong with it. One of them is the rear air ride suspension doesn't work at all. How would I go about diagnosing what exactly is wrong with the system so I can fix it up? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

An easy and quick check is shortly after you turn on the Ignition key, the compressor should run briefly (every time). If it does not run shortly after each time that you turn the ignition on, then you likely have an electrical issue with 12v power not reaching the compressor or a faulty compressor. Then once the car is running the compressor will switch on as needed due to a height sensor located to the inside of the left rear wheel.

Something that you might want to consider, several LeSabre owners in this forum (including myself) have replaced the air shocks with coil-over-spring shocks such as Link . They are easy to install. For myself, my air bags were leaking, that's when when I installed the coil-over-spring shocks, I disconnected & capped the air lines (at the shocks) and pulled the compressor fuse (under the rear seat). This way the system remains in tact, this way the next owner can easily switch back if they desire to. The coil-over-spring shocks does take a-little getting used to (because they are different) but for me, once I got used to them, I'm very happy with them. I have (2) more LeSabre's which the air ride system still works but if they fail. I will switch those over as well.
