2005 Lesabre Trunk Swap

Hello. I own a 2005 Lesabre Custom, that I unfortunately backed into my dad’s truck. Thankfully no damage was sustained to his solid metal lift gate I hit the corner of, but my Lesabre was not as lucky. So I purchased a 2003 Lesabre Limited for $300 for the trunk lid (although I’ve also been swapping seats and interior features). Anyway I was wondering how to remove a trunk lid from a Lesabre, and how to attach the new one. Thanks for any help!

If the hinges are good and not bent its easy. You should have 2 or 3 bolts on each side of the hinges holding on the trunk lid. Unplug any wiring and swap the lock cylinder if it's not damaged. If the hinges are bent then its a bigger job. I believe you have to remove the package tray where the rear speakers are to get to the bolts for the torque arm assembly/hinges

Ok great! I think the hinges are not bent. It still opens and closes with no issue. I will try this in a few weeks when I’m on break.

too bad they didnt do an aluminum trunk lid like the 2001 oldsmobile aurora with a 4.0 v8(only that year, only that engine) it would have been nice and easy.
