2005 replaced alternator now having electrical issues???

Ok, alternator went out. We replaced it. Now, after I start the tuck, it takes 5 mins for all power to work...this includes my transmission completely shifting into 1st gear, my power locks locking, and my ac to blow cold.
PLEASE HELP!
Any advice would be much appreciated...

do you have a voltmeter to test the alternator and the battery?

I believe my husband does

then have it check the voltage with the car running should be roughly 13.5 to 14.5 . Have him check after the car is turned off should be above 12.5 and have him check again 24 hrs after shutting off the car to see how far it drops.
