Got a 2011 CXS with 203,000 miles. Was backing into my parking spot at home when a bunch of steam started coming from out of my hood. Opened it up & the radiator hose had blown off. Bought a new inlet thinking that maybe it was just old & when checking it while the car is idling, it almost sounds like a hissing sound is coming from the area. Almost like pressure is building up. Pretty hot to the touch & the radiator fan on that side isn’t coming on. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.IMG_0647.webpIMG_0648.webp

UPDATE: checked the fuses for the cooling fan & the 30A fuse was blown. Changed it out but the fan only comes on when the heat is on. Also both upper & lower radiator hoses are pretty hot & to my knowledge, the lower hose is supposed to be cooler to the touch.

Unless engine temperature gets to 215 to 225 the fan will not run. You need an IR gun to check temperature not your hands.

Actually drove around for a while today to really get the car heated up. Was checking the temp and what do you know? The temp was around that range & the fan came on! I'm guessing when the fan fuse blown, the upper radiator hose that's in front of the fan got too hot & must've just built up pressure & popped off. Thank you for the info also!

does the elbow appear to hold the pressure in after you re-inserted it? That o-ring looks all but disintegrated. I just replaced mine on my 2010 cxs last weekend ( https://a.co/d/f01wRzg ) the inner crease was seething. That part seems to become very brittle. When I removed mine to replace it, my red o-ring was disintegrated as well, and the circular piece of plastic past the o-ring actually stayed inside the hole so I had to pry it out.

Do you mind telling me which fans and fuses you are referring to? My passenger side fan NEVER runs and I was under the impression that it should come on with the air conditioner. The engine is getting hotter than it should (imo— this vehicle is new to me), temperature gauge moving between 3/8 and 2/3.

I actually went and bought another inlet tube. When it blown off, it cracked too. It was also really old and almost brittle too. & It was this fuse - the 30A fuse. I would go through & check the other fan relays also. There’s about 6 in total I think.

Thanks! I don't believe 45 was blown, and I think I tried swapping 41 and 45 just in case. I also tried some relays-- bought a new R9, swapped a few of the relays (just looking at the diagram, probably R13 with R15, R10 with heated seat relay from the trunk).

There's another thread here with similar issue where poster said their compressor was "too weak" and after swapping out compressor, the fans worked properly. So I might try that next. Ugh

After determining that the passenger side fan was dead (swapped connectors and pass. fan didn’t come on), I swapped out the fan assembly (both radiator fans and shroud). Temp gauge is staying under halfway point. Yay. Of course I did it just in time to celebrate the cool weather, so I can tell how much better the AC is running.
