2012 Buick regal base front speaker harness

I bought some new speakers for my 2012 Buick regal base model and crutchfield sent out a ford meta wiring harness. It is close but the rounded edges don't allow it to fit in the factory harness from the stock speaker. I found the Metra 72-4572 for GM 2010-2017 and it has the chamfered edges and looks like it would work. When doing the 'see if this fits your vehicle' it says it wouldn't. Anyone have suggestions on what speaker harness to use for the front door speakers?

Use one designed for a GM car, not sure on what the problem in using the correct parts.

There is no problem using the right parts, why would there be. When companies who should know what works with vehicles can't give you a correct answer you start to second guess. Why would they tell you a GM harness wouldn't work for a GM car of the correct year range and offer a ford harness for a buick. I don't want to waste time and money if someone used a harness in the past and it worked. Simple question really.

There are GM speaker wire adapters and not hard to find, Crutchfield, Amazon, Sonicelectronix, Bestbuys, Frys, Walmart etc. Or go to Metra directly - 72-4568 Speaker adaptor, GM 88 and up.
