Has anyone replaced the water pump themselves on the 2.0L turbo? Trying to see if I can do it or the dealership. I did replace on a 2.4 L non-turbo but this one is a whole different ballgame. Do I need to remove the exhaust? There is barely any room to put your tools and fingers in there.

This should point you in the right direction. Link and password are on the top post.

Once logged in, and the vehicle has been selected, type in 'water pump' in the search bar.

I've changed Water Pumps on a couple of vehicles many years ago.
But looking at the process to change this Water Pump and knowing
how tight it is in there to work; this is a job I think I would have a
mechanic do.
But that's me!

Thanks for this. Very helpful. It's crazy how many bloody things required to remove to replace a waterpump. Don't know why they design these cars so hard to repair. Oh wait, so you can take it in and pay through your nose. Thanks again.

Ya it is bloody tight. Can barely get your fingers and tools in there. Not to mention the amount of things required to take off to replace this. I might be heading in that direction for a mechanic to do it. Crazy expensive too. Thanks for your reply.

Ya, I'm sure that repair wouldn't be a cheap one!
The Timing Chain is another one of the Jobs that is tough
because of the lack of room, again not a cheap job!

I just did 4 Wheel Bearings and 4 Rotors/Pads on my Regal
and I was shocked at how much money I saved doing these
repairs myself.
I knew what to expect for the Brakes, but I had no idea how
much the Wheel Bearing would have cost.

We replaced the chains and pump a few years ago and it actually wasn't too bad once you get into it. I'd recommend taking the timing cover off because once you get everything off, it's just some bolts and then you can check stuff and you have easy access to the pump, instead of working through that port. You may want to replace the chains and tensioners too. If the phasers are not having any problems I'd leave them alone.
