Hello Buick forum,
I have 2012 Lacrosse with the AC clutch not engaging. High side sensor and low side gauge read around 130 psi. I scanned for fault codes with Autel MX808. Also, I tried jumping the clutch relay and nothing happened. The relay clicks and I can move the clutch. Is there something I am missing?

EDIT: I have 12v power on cavity 2 at the compressor.

TIA
Nic

Hi, I have the same problem with my son's car. Albeit, it's not a Buick. With the clutch not engaging, I disconnected the electrical connector from the clutch assembly and used a multi meter. His clutch is showing no resistance which means the clutch coil is open. Using a multi meter across the pins on the A/C compressor, the A/C clutch coil should have a very low resistance. EG: 2-10 ohms. I would start there.

Clutch is dead…I measured OL f for resistance and plugged 12v directly into it.

Did you also check the ground by running an alligator clip wire to the battery negative from the ground terminal? If not, might be worth checking as well.

I replaced the AC compressor with GM part 19419921. Everything works now. The clutch coil failed internally. There is no damage to the wires at all.

All set.

Coil removed…see picture

Thanks for the follow up. I suppose the cracks around the perimeter are potential clues.

On a different GM car we had the clutch fail and the meachanic swapped in a Nissens compressor. That compressor was noisy, was not very cool, lasted 2 years. Last autumn, a better mechanic replaced it with a GM part which is much quieter and cooler than the Nissens was.
