Went to the dealer today. Rear shocks need to be replaced but are covered by warranty. Front struts are beginning to seep and the dealer quoted me $957 with parts and labor. I know dealers tend to be more expensive but is that a price that seems about right? Seems pretty pricey to me.

That sounds absurdly high. I bet you could get the OE struts from Rockauto or a GM online retailer for $200 dollars or less. I would find a local trusted mechanic and have them do the job.

Beware of aftermarket struts like Monroe. Their quality control does not match the factory struts.

that is my next course of action. I started a case with the GM warranty department. They said I am only 600 miles out of bumper to bumper and they have upgraded the case to severe because they feel its something that should be covered even if they only cover it partly. I hear that price of 957 and i said are they made out of solid gold?

Now how do I find out if I have or dont have chassis control?

Is it a Regal GS with the AWD? If so and the dealer says $957 then that’s a pretty great deal actually. If it’s a GS you have the active suspension and it’s damn near impossible to find struts that are AWD specific for the GS. I personally have to replace mine for my AWD GS and I CAN NOT find AWD GS struts. I had to buy FWD GS struts and that’s just more work because now I need to swap out the springs because the AWD uses a stiffer spring. Not to mention that’s not exactly a 10min job even if it is dropping out the strut and bolting up a new one. That’s actually a good amount of work and $957 really isn’t that bad. Can you do it cheaper sure. If you do the work yourself.

Right. I have a premium ii awd. Not the GS so I dont think I have the active suspension.
